27/04/14 – 06/05/14: Offenburg, Germany to Budapest, Hungary
Winding our way through the stunning (but wet) Black Forest in Germany
Climbing the last section of the stretch to Donaueschingen, the source of the Danube, deep in the Black Forest.
It doesn’t quite capture the slope. This bit hurt!
The meadows of the Danube flood plains on the way to Rechtenstein, Germany.
Wet again cruising out of Tuttlingen, Germany
Not very flattering but I promised Will it would go in. It was a good baguette and I was very hungry.
Mmmm… good baguette. Near Rechtenstein, Germany.
Spinning away through a German wood. Somewhere near Leipheim.
We’ve found the key to supercharging Will. Full fat milk. He finds it hard to control himself.
The Howies photo shoot. Definitely not posing! Near Leipheim, Germany.
The Howies photo shoot. Definitely not posing! Near Leipheim, Germany.
Just chilling in our Howies gear in a field… and posing a bit.
Coming into Ingolstadt, Germany. We’ve come a long way from the source and the Danube is now a rather large beast.
Just through Ingolstadt, Germany and in full swing on the way to Strauding.
The campsite in Passau.
St Stephen’s Cathedral in Passau. What an incredible place. The organ is the biggest in the world (I think). It definitely looks it.
Camping on the banks of the Danube in Passau, Germany. First job every evening is to get the beers open. These ones were particularly chunky.
Not much to say except this morning was epic. The Austrians definitely win for the best baby bum tarmac and clear cycle route signage.
Final preparations on a cold but sunny morning on the banks of the Danube. Next stop Vienna.
With the rain gone we were cruising along the Austrian cycle paths to Vienna.
Our box for the night. So Romo. Maybe not. But definitely cozy and stuffy.
The ultimate timetrial course. 60km of flat cycle path along the Slovakian bank of the Danube. Down on the TT bars, music in… go!
Will looking apprehensive at the prospect of the upcoming 60km timetrial along the Slovakian bank of the Danube.
Our first attempt at wild camping in a bush in Slovakia. Accidentally bought fizzy water in the nearest town so the open air shower in the woods was extra special…
Crossing the Danube from Slovakia to Hungary for a well earned lunch. Not far to rest day in Budapest. It is needed!
