Riding the Silk Road through Uzbekistan
The ride from Nukus to Tashkent has taken us along the old Silk Road through ancient cities, irrigated farmland and our second desert crossing. With out arrival into Tashkent we’ve now hopefully seen the last of the deserts for a couple of weeks…
We’ve collected our bike part delivery, serviced the bikes, fuelled our bellies and are about to set off for the Fergana Valley and the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Here’s the last 2 weeks in photos.
It looks stunning. I’d (theoretically) go through quite a lot of cycling pain in order to have a beer overlooking that square.
What parts did you get sent out? Tires?gmn
More great photos, thanks, Julie
Steve and I have been doing some reading ahead on your mountain pass future. Good news is it looks like you’ll be on the M41, “The historical Pamir Highway, officially called M41, is an excellent challenge for a 4×4 adventure travelers.” http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/M41_highway
Have you engaged two-wheel drive yet??
Relieved you have ventured out of that God forsaken desert and good to hear you are heading for the M41!!!!! where is that? At least it sounds partly like civilization! Hope you guys are feeling better. I am sickened to see what has been happening in recent times to those poor rhinos. You guys are doing a wonderful job. Stay safe and well. Xxx
